FAQs
A lab-grown diamond, is a diamond that is created in a laboratory setting through a process called chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) methods. These diamonds have the same chemical composition and crystal structure as natural diamonds, but they are manufactured under controlled conditions rather than being mined from the earth.
Yes, lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They have the same chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds, with the main difference being their origin. Natural diamonds are formed deep within the earth over millions of years, whereas lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment in a matter of weeks or months.
For a naked eye it is impossible to distinguish between Lab-Grown Diamond & Natural Diamond. Even trained and experienced gemologists cannot make out the difference.
There are third party gemological institutes like GIA, IGI, SGL, etc. which provide certification for diamonds and jewellery. These institutes are internationally recognised and are a go to for most jewellers and consumers.
Additionally, we only use lab-grown diamonds (solitaires of 1carat or more) which are laser-inscribed with a unique identification number which corresponds to a IGI or GIA certificate.
Generally, lab-grown diamonds are more affordable than natural diamonds of similar quality. The cost of lab-grown diamonds is influenced by factors like the manufacturing process and demand. While they offer a more budget-friendly option, they can still be beautiful and have significant value. Majority of the cost for natural diamonds is that of the mining activities.
With lab-grown diamonds you are not only saving money but also reducing the cost on environment.
Lab-grown diamonds can be of exceptional quality, often matching or even exceeding the quality of natural diamonds. The production process allows for greater control over factors like clarity and color, resulting in diamonds with fewer inclusions and color variations. However, just like natural diamonds, the quality of lab-grown diamonds varies depending on factors such as the manufacturer and the chosen specifications.
Lab-grown diamonds are generally considered more environmentally friendly than natural diamonds. They require less energy and have a smaller carbon footprint compared to the energy-intensive mining process of natural diamonds. Additionally, lab-grown diamonds do not contribute to the destruction of natural habitats or other environmental concerns associated with diamond mining.
Most diamond creation labs in India additionally are solar powered. As an industry, we are working towards building more sustainable practices.
The diamond market is more established for natural stones, and consumer perception still favors natural diamonds, which can impact the resale value of lab-grown diamonds. The initial investment of acquiring a lab grown diamonds is lesser, which off-sets the lower resale rates.
