After a hazing incident at an elite college, half-siblings Caroline and Lucien decide to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the vice president of the United States. This will be the third attempt to create a television series based on the world of cinema. Twisted intention (1999). The live-action sequel, A Cruel Name 2 (2000), in which Amy Adams replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar as Catherine Merteuil in the title role, was originally a scripted series and was later remade into a feature film. Gellar would later reprise her role as Katherine in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Games (2016), which was not ordered to series.
